My life has been a sum of changes, leading me to a better version of myself. Committing to an exercise routine and eating healthier has helped me lose weight and gain a new perspective on life. I’ve shared my experiences with you, my readers, and hopefully, inspired you to look at wellness from the inside out. Being well is about more than beauty; it’s a combination of healthy eating, regular exercise, and leading a healthy lifestyle. I’ve learned these lessons myself, and consider them a gift—my reward for making positive changes in my life. Those changes are precisely why I’m so excited to share highlights from the best thing I’ve done for my well-being till date—a one-of-a-kind spa retreat!

Ame at Turnberry Isle, a premiere spa and retreat, recently launched a series of wellness retreats. According to spa director Tammy Pahel, this series is a collaborative effort between over 100 wellness experts. It’s designed to engage Miami’s health conscious community. When an opportunity to experience this retreat first-hand presented itself, I jumped at the chance. I cannot tell you how thankful I am for having done so. It was by far one of the best experiences of my life. My weekend kicked off with a short drive to Turnberry Isle Aventura, a sight I won’t soon forget. The whole weekend was completely planned for me. From unplugging from devices to unwinding mind, body and soul, this luxurious experience put me at ease and prepared me for embarking on a spiritual adventure.
The weekend began with a scrumptious farm-to-table dinner prepared by a Master Chef. The meal included a variety of healthy ingredients that fit any diet plan, like juice cleanses, plant-based choices, low-carb foods, and gluten-free options. There I met the amazing Nikki Costello, one of my favorite yogis. She gave us an inkling of the awesomeness that was to come.

As the glorious weekend progressed, I found myself more in tune with my body, and more
importantly, 
with my mind.

Although our days were full, every single moment was invaluable to the process and worth the effort for a novice like myself. I cannot express enough how magically transforming this experience was for me. To top it all off, I had the pleasure of learning with Dr. Craig Tanio, CEO and Founder of Rezilir Health. Board certified in internal medicine, trained in functional medicine, and a member of the faculty at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Dr. Craig not only possesses a wealth of knowledge, but also happens to possess a friendly, welcoming demeanor that invites anyone he meets to strike up a conversation, and encourages them to glean as much information as possible from him and his varied experiences.

Dr. Craig and his team at Rezilir bring to the Wellness Collective the best of conventional and integrative medicine with an investigative, functional approach, and work with you to uncover the root causes of your condition or shortcomings. He promotes a healthy lifestyle with an emphasis on preventive measures that help patients avoid medical emergencies. My afternoon appointment with Rezilir Health focused on my activity and energy levels, my diet, sleep pattern, menstrual cycle, and my family history. I learned new ways to manage stress and discussed new options for proper exercise that fit into my life and would help me achieve my individualized goals, based on our findings.

As if what I’d already experienced wasn’t enough, another fortunate event happened. I was invited to participate in a group dinner at Plant Food and Wine, prepared by my culinary hero, Mathew Kenney. As a vegetarian, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Mr. Kenney is a much sought-after chef and is a leading expert in raw food diets and cuisine. He’s written best-selling cookbooks, worked as a culinary educator, and is a successful entrepreneur specializing in plant-based lifestyle. He graduated from the renowned French Culinary Institute, operates many highly-acclaimed restaurants across the East Coast, and has earned a multitude of accolades and awards. Now, he’s offered his expertise to enhance an already supreme retreat experience by joining the Ame Turnberry retreat series, here in Miami.
