Fitness Model

Change is the only true constant in life. Life progresses at such a fast pace, that many times we lose sight of pausing to take a moment to breathe and take care of ourselves. Change, any change can be difficult and daunting at times, especially when trying to let go of old habits and begin new ones. There is never a right day or time to begin a wellness journey. The journey begins when you decide to love and care for yourself enough that wellness becomes a priority. Exercise is an act of kindness on the body. I think it is important to bear in mind that the ultimate goal when exercising is wellness and not perfection. Whether you are an avid exerciser or a beginner, ALWAYS remember to be kind to yourself throughout the process. One of the most difficult challenges I see people struggle with in the classes I teach, is learning to be kind to themselves. However, learning to be kind and loving towards yourself is the greatest way to stay motivated on a fitness/wellness journey.

Our bodies are designed to move. It does not matter whether you lift weights, do Crossfit, Zumba, Yoga or Pilates. All that matters is that you move your body and are kind to yourself throughout the process. Even if it is something as simple as beginning with a brisk twenty to thirty minute walk. Small steps can yield great changes. Add another five to ten minutes of meditation for peace of mind. (To the beginning or end of the day I would recommend) Meditating can be as simple as: breathe in the good, exhale the bad. It does not need to be complex. Just sit down with your breath and see where it takes you. This is yet another act of kindness on your body, a five to ten minute mindful meditation can also help keep the stress at bay. It is ok if the fireworks display of thoughts goes off. This allows you to be conscious of the many directions you allow your mind to wander off to. It is impossible not to think, a little meditation helps bring that attention and awareness inward to bring a little more peace and sanity into our lives. Combine that with a little exercise and the stress levels go down, and the energy levels go up.

We Change. We Grow. We Evolve. Where you are in your fitness/wellness journey now, is not where you will be in seven weeks, months or years. It is a promise you make to yourself. Beginning a fitness/wellness journey is ultimately the dedication to a permanent lifestyle change.The goal is not perfection, simply wellness. “A journey of a thousand miles, begins with one step.” –Buddha

It does not matter where you are, all that matters is taking that first step.
