Researchers have found that black rice may be effective in decreasing skin inflammation, which could have a considerable impact on disease processes from autoimmune diseases to cancers and is now used in weight management studies. Some studies even suggest that black rice has heart healthy benefits, decreasing the risk of hardening of the arteries or plaque build up. It may help with liver function, cognitive impairment, and have anti-cancer effects because it contains the one thing other foods don’t contain – anthocyanins, which help protect the body from free radical damage, which leads to cancer.

With all the potential health benefits touted, there is no reason to avoid eating this once forbidden delicacy. Including it in your healthy eating plan can only make you healthier.

With no known side effects, no studies indicating adverse effects at all, the least you could do is incorporate this super food into your weekly meal plan and see for yourself what it does. At the very least, it will help you feel full faster and will sustain you while you go about your daily activities. There’s nothing wrong with that.
